Description:

Relief shown pictorially. Illustrations include ships engaging in battle on the ocean and two sea monsters framing the French coat of arms. The titel cartouche is crowned by Atlas supporting the Earth, framed by banners. The titel cartouche also includes a barrell and tools in barrell making. The inscription indicating this map was sold by Tavernier in Paris has been removed but is still visible. This state was published in Jan Jansson's Appendix Novi Atlantis in 1637. From the Jansson Appendix Atlas 1636-1680, title created to represent a unique collection within the Clark Library, University of Michigan. 1 map; 36 x 48 cm.
