- Abstract
- The zoning polygon layer is a generalized zoning coverage for the town of Brookline's current zoning ordinance. Layer features represent contiguous zoning districts as adopted in the zoning ordinance. The coverage is digitized from data collected from the existing zoning map from the Town's Planning Department, Boston Edison Company's street centerline datalayer, and the parcels datalayer. Zoning data includes polygons and labels representing the boundaries for specific zoning codes as defined by the Zoning Code.
- Purpose
- These data are intended for researchers, students, and policy makers for reference and mapping purposes, and may be used for basic applications such as viewing, querying, and map output production, or to provide a basemap to support graphical overlays and analysis with other spatial data such as an overlay for the parcel coverage, aiding in the initial determination of a parcel or plan's zoning or zonings. The purpose of this layer is to identify the zoning classification of individual properties that fall within zoning districts. This layer may also be used to select all properties that share a particular zoning classification, or more generally, to view zoning districts as they appear in the zoning ordinance. More advanced user applications may focus on decision-making for urban and town planning, transportation planning, public works, or utilities purposes (including defining boundaries, managing assets and facilities, integrating attribute databases with geographic features, spatial analysis, and presentation output).
