- Abstract
- All Cambridge building structures are in the Buildings layer. With the exception of new building footprints manually added from architectural plans, building polygons are actually the outline of the roofline. Sometimes buildings with large overhangs will appear larger than the actual building footprint.
- Purpose
- This data layer is used for our detailed base maps. Most buildings have attributes with roofline elevations and the highest point elevation above sea level. The buildings have a unique ID, which allows this layer to be joined with the City's master address database.
- Supplemental Information
- There are approximately 17,700 building structures in Cambridge. This figure includes residential, industrial, commercial, and institutional buildings, as well as garages and sheds. Structures smaller than 100 square feet are not included in the data layer.

- Original buildings data from the flyover were compiled using photogrammetric methods to meet ASPRS Class 1 accuracy standards for 1" = 100' scale mapping. The Buildings layer has been manually updated with major footprint changes through 2007 from georeferenced building plans.
