- Abstract
- This polygon layer contains parcels with preservation easements or that have been designated as landmarks by the Cambridge City Council. It also contains parcels with Massachusetts Historical Commission (MHC) easements. A landmark is a place, structure, feature, or object that has been designated by the City Council as historically or architecturally significant by itself or because it is associated with events, persons, or trends significant to the history of the City of Cambridge.
- Purpose
- Protected properties with locally designated easements give the Cambridge Historical Commission (CHC) the same review power as the City Council. Building permits, sign permits, and demolition permits for these properties are subject to review by the CHC. This layer was created for use within the Cambridge Historical Commission and for map creation.
