- Abstract
- This map polygon data layer represents various features (roads, alleys, bridges, parking areas) described as major transportation corridors in the City of Cambridge, Massachusetts.
- Purpose
- This layer is intended for researchers, students, and policy makers for reference and mapping purposes, and may be used for basic applications such as viewing, querying, and map output production, or to provide a basemap to support graphical overlays and analysis with other spatial data. This layer will provide a basemap for layers related to transportation and more advanced user applications may focus on urban planning and policy-making, public works, or utilities purposes (including defining boundaries, managing assets and facilities, integrating attribute databases with geographic features, spatial analysis, and presentation output.)

- Attribute Accuracy Report
- For Paved roads: Compiled edge of pavement of all public thoroughfares. For Unpaved roads: Compiled only if greater than 500' in length. For Alleys: Compiled all alleys visible on aerial photography. For Paved Parking: Paved parking areas that have 10 or more parking spaces. Label "PK" For Unpaved Parking: Show only if greater than 10 spaces and 200' long. Label "PK" For Bridges and overpasses: Outside edge of structure shown; bridge deck location or clear span where bridge deck is not visible is indicated; elevated highway shown as bridge. Private ways: Identified by City staff after conversion.
- Horizontal Positional Accuracy Report
- Color aerial photography at a scale of 1" = 400' was captured on March 29, 1995 for the subsequent development of base map data. Forward lap was 80% 2%. Sidelap was a minimum of 30% . Crab was less than 3 degrees when measured with respect to any two successive exposures. Planimetric data is compiled in accordance with the ASPRS Accuracy Standards for Large-Scale Class 1 maps. This means that the limiting RMS error for all well defined points shall be 1.0' on the ground. Control Points: The plotted position of each control point shall lie to an accuracy of one-hundredth (1/100) of an inch of its true position, as expressed by the State Plane coordinate for that point.
