World Countries (Generalized) represents generalized boundaries for the countries of the world as they existed in January 2007.
Purpose
World Countries (Generalized) provides generalized political boundaries for the world in 2007. The generalized political boundaries improve draw performance and effectiveness at a global level. To display World Political Organization Membership attributes or CountryWatch Demographics 2000 attributes, join these tables to this attribute table using FIPS_CNTRY or CNTRY_NAME as the common attribute.

Logical Consistency Report
The shapefile is converted to SDC (Smart Data Compression) format using either ESRI SDC Data Development Kit Professional 2 (DDKP2) or tools in ArcGIS. The SDC data set is then loaded into ArcSDE to verify and validate the geometry. The data set is created directly from a topologically correct ArcInfo coverage.
Completeness Report
After processing, the data set is checked for drawing display and number of records and file sizes compared with source materials.
Horizontal Positional Accuracy Report
The geospatial part of this data set was originally extracted from the ArcWorld Supplement database and then generalized (tolerance unknown) and generalized again to a tolerance of 0.1 decimal degrees. The positional accuracy is unknown.
