- Purpose
- World Map Background provides for displaying a shaded background on which other data can be displayed. For example, use the World Map Background to quickly display a blue ocean theme behind other land-based themes such as World Countries.

- Logical Consistency Report
- The shapefile is converted to SDC (Smart Data Compression) format using either ESRI SDC Data Development Kit Professional 2 (DDKP2) or tools in ArcGIS. The SDC data set is then loaded into ArcSDE® to verify and validate the geometry.
- Completeness Report
- After processing, the data set is checked for drawing display and number of records and file sizes compared with source materials.
- Horizontal Positional Accuracy Report
- The geospatial part of this data set was mathematically generated using the ARC/INFO® GRID™ extension. In this manner, the locations were computed. The positional accuracy is limited only by the resolution of the data set, which is less than a meter.
