Relief shown by hachures; depths shown by soundings. Original issue, 2nd state of the plate; northernmost point lettered, "Fort." On large paper with printed text in 4 columns below. Title of text: An account of the proceedings of His Majesty's forces at the attack of the rebels works on Long Island, on the 27th of August 1776. In lower right-hand corner: Engraved by W. Faden, (successor to the late Mr. Jefferys, geographer to the King) the corner of St. Martin's-Lane, Charing-Cross, and to be had of Mess. Wallis and Stonehouse, booksellers, Ludgate Street. Historic Maps copy imperfect: map torn in two places, with some loss of text.
