Abstract
World Administrative Divisions represents the boundaries for the first-level administrative divisions of the world.
Purpose
World Administrative Divisions provides a detailed basemap layer for the country first-level administrative divisions of the world. It has been designed to be used as a basemap and includes a Disputed Boundaries layer that can be used to edit boundaries to fit a user's needs. Included are fields for name and ISO codes, along with land type, land rank, notes identifying disputed boundaries, and continent information.

Data Quality Information
Logical Consistency Report
The dataset is converted to file geodatabase (FGDB) format using tools in ArcGIS. The geometry is checked, and if needed repaired.
Completeness Report
After processing, the dataset is checked for drawing display and number of records and file sizes compared with source materials.
Horizontal Positional Accuracy Report
The World Base Map was derived using Landsat 8, Landsat 7 (Global Land Survey (GLS) 2000 and GLS 2005), and SRTM (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission) as a global base. Landsat 7 provided the horizontal positional accuracy of +/- 50 meters 90% CE, and SRTM ensured that features appropriately fit the topography (i.e., rivers flowed through valleys).
