Abstract
Transport Routes, 1996 is a polyline theme representing the world's major roads and railroads.
Purpose
For educational, non-commercial purposes. This dataset is appropriate for use in a GIS.
Supplemental Information
The transport route maps show the world's major roads and railroads. Many of these are main polyways of international importance. They represent the framework of the world's transportation infrastructure, which provides connections between one settlement and another and between settlements and their hinterlands. Although the map scales are rather small for displaying transportation routes, the maps show the features and types of route network configurations as well as possible.
