- World Countries 2008 provides political boundaries for the world in 2008. To display World Political Organization Membership attributes or Census IPC Demographics attributes, join these tables to this attribute table using FIPS_CNTRY or CNTRY_NAME as the common attribute.

- The shapefile is converted to SDC (Smart Data Compression) format using either ESRI SDC Data Development Kit Professional 2 (DDKP2) or tools in ArcGIS. The SDC data set is then loaded into ArcSDE to verify and validate the geometry. The data set is created directly from a topologically correct ArcInfo coverage.
