- Abstract
- World Latitude and Longitude Grid is a polygon theme representing a 5 by 5 degree latitude/longitude grid covering the world with attributes that allow you to display grids at intervals of 5, 10, 15, 20, and 30 degrees. To display a grid with a 5-degree interval, simply display all of the lines. To display a coarser grid, for example, a 15-degree interval, define the theme properties as lines with the Degree15 attribute equal to Y. This dataset is a part of the 2008 ESRI Data and Maps Collection.
- Purpose
- World Latitude and Longitude Grid provides latitude and longitude lines for use as an overlay for world level maps.

- Data Quality Information
- Logical Consistency Report
- The shapefile is converted to SDC (Smart Data Compression) format using either ESRI SDC Data Development Kit Professional 2 (DDKP2) or tools in ArcGIS. The SDC data set is then loaded into ArcSDE to verify and validate the geometry.
- Completeness Report
- After processing, the data set is checked for drawing display and number of records and file sizes compared with source materials.
- Horizontal Positional Accuracy Report
- The geospatial part of this data set was mathematically generated using the ARC/INFO GRID extension. In this manner, the locations were computed. The positional accuracy is limited only by the resolution of the data set, which is less than a meter.
