This coverage represents a compilation of the various agencies responsible for structural fire protection in Santa Cruz County. Some are local districts with elected Boards (e.g. Central Fire), some are City Fire Departments (Santa Cruz and Watsonville) and two are County Service Areas (#4 and #48) under contract to the California Department of Forestry. In addition, the University of California at Santa Cruz has its own fire department. This layer is part of a collection of GIS data created for Santa Cruz County, California.
<note displayLabel="Purpose" type="other">The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Unit falls under the purview of the County of Santa Cruz Information Services Department. The GIS Unit serves all County departments and external customers and provides data on land, features and people of Santa Cruz County. Santa Cruz County encompasses 4 cities and approximately 265,000 people. This coverage can be used for basic applications such as viewing, querying and map output production, or to provide a basemap to support graphical overlays and analyses of geospatial data.</note> <note displayLabel="Supplemental information" type="other">GIS Layer Number = 7F/ Fire Service Areas: Originally drawn by using the Elections Fire District boundaries as a base, and adding fire service area boundaries for Pajaro Dunes (CSA #4), County Fire (CSA #48), City of Santa Cruz, City of Watsonville and U.C.S.C. Dan Turner of the State Department of Forestry was the source of boundary information during the conversion. The County Office of Emergency Services is the layer authority. Source criteria has not yet been established for future changes to this layer.</note> <subject authority="geonames"> <geographic authority="geonames" authorityURI="http://geonames.org/ontology#">Santa Cruz County (Calif.)</geographic> </subject> <subject authority="lcsh"> <topic authority="lcsh" authorityURI="http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects">Special districts</topic> </subject> <subject authority="lcsh"> <topic authority="lcsh" authorityURI="http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects">County services</topic> </subject> <subject authority="lcsh"> <topic authority="lcsh" authorityURI="http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects">Fires and fire prevention</topic> </subject> <subject authority="lcsh"> <topic authority="lcsh" authorityURI="http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects">Emergency management</topic> </subject> <subject authority="ISO19115TopicCategory"> <topic authority="ISO19115TopicCategory" authorityURI="http://www.isotc211.org/2005/resources/Codelist/gmxCodelists.xml#MD_TopicCategoryCode">Boundaries</topic> </subject> <subject authority="ISO19115TopicCategory"> <topic authority="ISO19115TopicCategory" authorityURI="http://www.isotc211.org/2005/resources/Codelist/gmxCodelists.xml#MD_TopicCategoryCode">Geoscientific Information</topic> </subject> <subject> <temporal encoding="w3cdtf">2015</temporal> </subject> <subject> <cartographics> <projection>EPSG::2227</projection> <coordinates>W 122°19ʹ10ʺ--W 121°34ʹ53ʺ/N 37°17ʹ34ʺ--N 36°50ʹ32ʺ</coordinates> </cartographics> </subject> <originInfo> <dateIssued encoding="w3cdtf" keyDate="yes">2015</dateIssued> <dateValid encoding="w3cdtf">2015</dateValid> <publisher>County of Santa Cruz Information Services Department</publisher> </originInfo> <location> <url usage="primary display">https://purl.stanford.edu/hz045yq1947</url> </location> <note type="contact" displayLabel="Contact">paul.garcia@santacruzcounty.us</note> <note type="contact" displayLabel="Contact">matt.price@santacruzcounty.us</note> <recordInfo> <languageOfCataloging> <languageTerm authority="iso639-2b" type="code">eng</languageTerm> </languageOfCataloging> <recordContentSource>Stanford</recordContentSource> <recordCreationDate encoding="w3cdtf">2015-11-03</recordCreationDate> <recordIdentifier>edu.stanford.purl:hz045yq1947</recordIdentifier> </recordInfo> <extension displayLabel="geo"> <rdf:RDF xmlns:gml="http://www.opengis.net/gml/3.2/" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/"> <rdf:Description rdf:about="http://purl.stanford.edu/hz045yq1947"> <dc:format>application/x-esri-shapefile; format=Shapefile</dc:format> <dc:type>Dataset#Polygon</dc:type> <gml:boundedBy> <gml:Envelope gml:srsName="EPSG:4326"> <gml:lowerCorner>-122.31722344685087 36.8488188983095</gml:lowerCorner> <gml:upperCorner>-121.58229366742559 37.28615119719785</gml:upperCorner> </gml:Envelope> </gml:boundedBy> </rdf:Description> </rdf:RDF> </extension> <relatedItem type="host"> <titleInfo> <title>Santa Cruz County, California GIS Maps & Data</title> </titleInfo> <location> <url>https://purl.stanford.edu/kn733hp1726</url> </location> <typeOfResource collection="yes"/> </relatedItem> <accessCondition type="useAndReproduction">This item is in the public domain.
