This layer is part of the 2014 ESRI Data and Maps collection for ArcGIS 10.2.</abstract> <abstract lang="eng" displayLabel="Purpose">Geographic Names Information System, of which U.S. Geographic Names Information System Populated Places is a part, is the official repository of domestic geographic names data; the official vehicle for geographic names use by all departments of the Federal Government; and the source for applying geographic names to Federal electronic and printed products of all types in the United States.
