Abstract
Statewide coverage of 1950 American Indian Reservations. Boundaries that cross into the adjacent states are included. Population data is from the Annual Report of the Commissioner of Indian Affairs; Bureau of the Census Report 1950, revised by Bureau of Indian Affairs; Bureau of Indian Affairs, Phoenix Area Office "Withdrawal Program Summaries" ending Dec. 31, 1955; and Tohono, Gila Bend and San Xavier from estimate by Papago Indian Agency (11/23/56).
Purpose
To use in GIS systems for historical study and analysis. This datasets is made available to interested persons through the University of Arizona's instance of Open Geoportal. It has been provided to assist educators, students, researchers, and policy makers in mapping and/or analysis applications.
